Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

I'm curious

How many of you have contemplated quitting in the past several months? How many have been job shopping for longer than that? I think the number of people who fit into these two categories is at least half of the entire workforce - which should really make the ELT nervous and thinking about what it is they're doing wrong.

Glad you have a great mgr, they are rare here. The entire mgt chain is a reid in the wind when the ELT blows their hot air. If I thought for one second a good mgt team would give me job security, things would be different. I have been in that set up, and the ELT smote them all, they were powerless to stop the tide. Your great mgr is powerless too, one day they may be forced to sign an NDA, and weeks later telling you buh bye against their strongest will. This has happened dozens of times... don't be foolish, always have a backup plan!!!

Depends on the team you are in. We have a really good manager who is so good we have internal candidates wanting to join his team. I guess he is one of the new crop up and coming who doesn't bring the baggage. He is exactly what a manager should be so we certainly ain't looking

TD is so toxic. Directors have their noses right up the VPs a–.

Everyone I talk too who is not retirement eligible or very close is looking. Those in the former category are praying they can keep their job until they can exit. The morale is only getting lower and the new account teams are worse than ever. I recently left, and it was the best decision I've ever made TD leadership is toxic and clueless. The madlibs CEO is the laughing stock of the entire company....and I thought we could not do much worse than VL.

In CSS the entire field workforce is looking for a job since their layoff is imminent now that IBM is taking over.

The Titanic was not sinking, the band continued to play. Then it sank.

The financials of Teradata speak for themselves, if you know how to spin them you will. Enron did too. It is just a matter of time.

Teradata’s biggest success might be being be taught at MBA courses as a use case.

Cloud First - really. How long did that take? Does our cloud offering scale and work? No comment!

Are people leaving if they get another job? Hmm, yes.!

Are people happy? Hmm, no?

How many people have left in the last year.
Head of EMEA, CRO, 2 x CEOS, several VPs.
They might have got one of those life rafts early.

Watch this space.

I was a Data Engineer in EMEA consulting since 2013. I was seriously looking for a new job since March 2020. But I feel that was because the ELT treats consulting as least necessary department in the company. I finally resigned in November 2020. Had two offers in my hand. Whoever is looking to quit, I’d just have two things to tell them - act on it NOW and don’t be afraid of taking up new opportunities. I was in such a comfort zone in TD, that at one point I had almost given up looking for anything new, but the layoffs of June/July 2020 was a rude shock which prompted me to look for a new job immediately.

What favors are you referring too?

Half sounds like a good estimate. In CSS, there are those that are within reach of retirement and they are not looking. They are just hanging on until they make the finish line. Anyone under 50 is definitely looking unless you're at the director level. Those are living the life of a barfly. Making relationships and getting favors by any act needed. remember GSX2020?
