Thread regarding Sears layoffs

21 Kmart list

OK, so here is the newest list of now 21, non-closing Kmarts. I was able to confirm the closures of Marathon & Key Largo FL, via the jobs website. Someone mentioned Marshall MI, but when I called them, they claim they are not closing, so I can't remove that one as of yet. But if anyone has a link to that, please post, then I will remove it.

Also, I have been frantically contacting all sorts of media in Southern Florida to generate an external link and I finally got one:

Few housekeeping notes, I do not include Brooklyn NY, because it is a tiny "Kmart department" in 1 corner of the basement of an existing Sears store, NOT a full line stand-alone Kmart. South Lake Tahoe is spelled that way as a joke. I explained all this only about 100 Times, but someone invariably keeps asking about it.

I now debuted an improved public map which has all the territorial locations as well as the US ones!

We are now at 21 Kmarts total, 16 of which are in the US. I have changed my map to reflect this as well:

California

  1. Costa Mesa
  2. Freedom -P
  3. Grass Valley -P
  4. South Lake Taco (LOL)

Florida

  1. Key West
  2. Miami

Michigan

  1. Marshall -P

Montana

  1. Hamilton

New Jersey

  1. Avenel
  2. West Wood

New York

  1. Bridgehampton
  2. Bronx
  3. Bronx -P
  4. NY -P
  5. White Plains

Territories:
Guam

  1. Tamuning, GU -P

Puerto Rico

  1. Hato Rey -P

USVI

  1. St. Croix -P
  2. St. Croix
  3. St. Thomas -P
  4. St. Thomas

Statistics: Kmart absent in 44 states. 2 states, (both starting with "M") MI, MT, have only 1 each. There are 15 Kmarts in US States total. Of those in the US, 5, marked with letter "P", have pharmacies as well as 4 more pharmacies in the territories, also marked with letter "P".
Puerto Rico has 1 Kmart, USVI has 4, Guam has 1, so 6 total stores outside of the US. 21 total Kmarts left as of now that are not closed or closing.
States with more than 1 Kmart:
CA: 4
FL: 2
NJ: 2
NY: 5

Brooklyn’s KMart has more inventory than Hamilton, Montana. Therefore, you should include Brooklyn.

@1kgz+1a4vttFR Ask and ye shall receive. I apologize, I forgot to post the map earlier. Just to explain, the color coding, because I expanded the format to also include the territorial stores. As before, stateside stores with pharmacies are marked in yellow (and those without are blue).

But new, for this format, I now marked the territorial stores in green if they have a pharmacy, and red if they do not.

Map is public, so enjoy! I will continue to update it as further closings will invariably come in.
