Artificial intelligence? At this point, I would settle for just plain intelligence at the UP. Or at the very least some common sense.

Great article. It's documented for when it does happen. Hope it costs them a cool billion plus.
But, it’s still here. They aren’t going back from PSR to the old way of running the RR. In a few years with Artificial Intelligence improvements and automation it will be much worse. The glory days of railroading for the workers is long gone.
A C-suite level exec took evidence of dwell time pencil whipping in Tucson to the board and was promptly demoted...
PSR has MAYBE given UP a 3-4 cent in profit bump per dollar in revenue but to do that they've gutted the infrastructure to the point that taking on any new business is practically impossible. The yards to process the work are gone, and we're absolutely log jamming with enroute block swaps and work now. 2-3 crews to get trains over a segment that used to take 1. It's unsustainable.
