Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Throwing stones at hardworking employees?

This is my impression: when I tried and worked hard as I could, it was not good and I was regularly micromanaged. Then I decided not to try so much so, I didn't work nearly as hard and now my manager is more satisfied. Isn't that crazy?
Is it possible that they actually fear hardworking employees?

  1. S. This is just my case, I do not want to advise anyone to work bare minimum.

Or maybe you thought you were doing a good job but was messing up to the point you had to be micromanaged to avoid others having to come back and fix what you did. Now that you have stopped doing whatever you were doing, no one has to go back and do double work to fix it. One thing I can say as a red bad, people (executives) at Macy’s for some reason won’t tell the truth.

Oh and I mean maybe you were unknowingly doing something wrong and instead of your manager being a leader and letting you know upfront, they micromanaged instead.

I’ve seen people that do NOTHING but stand around and talk p–p, be rude to customers, not clean up after themselves, not bother to look for a product for a customer if it’s not in front of them, get numerous complaints, etc. get praise.
They practically get parades thrown for them because they open a lot of credits. Macy’s is Bizarro World personified.

sounds like they are playing the manager blame game.. instead of being a leader they blame the staff under them..

Red badge here. I think your situation is an anomaly because I don't know any manager that does not want a hard working employee, hard working employees are a rarity. If you can find a good hard working employee, that gives the manager time to concentrate in other areas. Maybe your manager's days were numbered, they s—ed at managing, or they didn't like the store manager, so they were intentionally doing as little as possible.
