Yes, most stores that closed in the October 2018 round during bankruptcy were told to leave behind everything that did not sell. I am a private liquidator, I have gone in several of these closed Kmarts and bought all the leftover fixtures and IT equipment. Sears did not want to pay to have them sc-apped or shipped anywhere. "Sears asked a judge for permission to abandon its unsold inventory, fixtures, furniture and other equipment still inside the abandoned stores to save money on dumpsters and other waste management services." Here is the article that I quoted from: https://nypost.com/2018/10/17/sears-quietly-paid-rent-on-more-than-200-shuttered-stores/

Registers were not sent to another store for storage at my Kmart. They were put on a few pallets and sent to a local electronic recycling sc-ap yard for disposal. Corporate only wanted the pin pads, EAS pads, and wireless scanners to be sent back. They rest was sc-apped.

As kmarts closed, registers, PC's, other electronics, business files, and HR documents typically got sent to be stored at other stores. That location may already be storing other things already.
