The company does not really care about IT, it’s just another cost center for them. And the less they can spend on it, the better.
I have been convinced of this for a long time and I believe that sooner or later it will have a very negative impact on this company. I’m going to get away as far as possible from this company, I should have done it a long time ago.
I have mixed feelings. I mean McKesson is a decent enough company that despite all its faults, it is an important player in the wider medical supply chain. And so by extension it plays a part in saving peoples lives. But on the other hand working in a toxic corporate IT function in this organization is very soul destroying. It pollutes our individual thoughts and as a result we are not really feeling the value of our contributions. The overall lack of strategy and vision from senior IT leaders will show and when it does, it may be too late as damage would likely be irreparable by that time...
