Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

February layoffs

I thought there were supposed to be some layoffs before the end of the month, what happened there? Is it still a possibility or has that rumor been debunked?

1) Ask your mgt if they are on an NDA... ask constantly, you'll know when the tone changes.
2) Are they backfilling roles?
3) New sudden, urgent, very tracked actions?
4) Boss seems distracted

If any of these 4 apply, ask your Dr. If a layoff may be coming for you.

Bonus: Always have a plan B if you work here. You've been warned, Q1 ain't over yet.

Q1 isn't over yet unfortunately. And to the comment re; 'hiring' and 'growth' at TD, it's like that every year. TD lays off a bunch of talent only to turn around and have a 'hiring boom', then the ELT decides around Q3 that the oldies need to go, and the cycle starts all over again.

No there hasn't been any this time round. My team got 3 new hires in the last week and we are recruiting for more. Seems to be a lot of growth in teams at the moment when usually this time of year it's the opposite.

Unless you are C-level, lay offs will never be 'debunked' or 'a thing of the past' at Teradata, it's just not how they do business. Don't wait, start looking and get ahead of it, you'll be happy you kick started your job search if/when the day comes that you're marked as expendable.

Can you imagine being laid off with weeks before AIP payout (for those who are on AIP bonus)?! That would be p–ping on these poor souls, not even spitting in their faces...

You're never going to know from an anonymous board. You're better off taking that energy and focusing it on your job search. You'll get some fact here and some trolls. Best is to just look around your group, your manager who has a greater viewpoint than you and get the feeling to how things are going for the company. Listen at meetings to old timers who are talking about how great it was but now it's changed (again & again) for the worse. Ignore the marketing, SM and even the stock price. Those are all just cheerleaders for the company. When the stock goes up, it is because of people OUTSIDE the company buying who only know the scene that is painted for them is. Fact: our stock skyrocketed and yet SM recently sold a LOT. if he thought it was going to continue to grow, don't you think he would have held? He's in a better position than anyone to see the future of the company and he sold. What does that alone say? The stock over time tells the truth. And by time, i don't mean a month. Anyone boasting about a month is trying to redirect your eyes from the trend. Look at the customers who are using our product. Are they happy? Are they staying? Are they getting the promises that we can do the cloud seamlessly without problem?
