Well, XOM gave me 3 months pay and insurance to GTFO, and nothing but grief and pain to stay and play the PIP game.
Sounds like I made out better than the Shell smucks.
it is 1000 shares, not $1000 worth of shares
$1000 is not that much. Worked TA for a few weeks at some locations and was rewarded with 3x that.
Top executives took those shares.

$1000 isn’t much of a gesture if compared to the 401k match. However, the idea of company shared is great. Rather than taking away benefits, ExxonMobil should have switched to company shares so that we are all now vested in the recovery.
Haha that's great. I interviewed a bunch of experienced hires a few years ago and a sharp fellow from Shell really pressed me on my real opinion on his situation. I told him to stay put since his wife was already working at EM and not to put all his eggs in one basket and he did even though he was the top candidate. I hope it worked out for them
Well, Shell will likely exist into the future.
