Why do they prefer incompetence?

Without any exaggeration, there are few people here who deserve respect based on their skillset alone. With all due respect to everyone, it seems to me that people who are less competent fare much better today. I noticed this as soon as I came to this company, then I thought it was just my subjective impression, but now it is quite clear to me that it is true. I just wonder why is this so?

It wasn’t hard for me to get over getting laid off because I’m marketable, moreover, it turned out that the dismissal was the best thing that happened to me at Commscope.

Incompetence breeds incompetence, the mgr and directors, and vps want it to make them look like they can’t exist without them.

My department has never had issues. Our managers are all about collaborative efforts and rewarding...when I was with Moto/Arris. The Pace division is completely different. It's like they're still working out of a garage. Lack of professionalism, lack of people managers, and an upper management with a very lax attitude. I dislike working with them. Started at Moto 11 years ago.

This has been my experience at CS as well, especially with legacy ARRIS. Managers will ask you to work evenings and weekends and give you no comp time to make up for it and then turn around take the credit for said work and then collect big on their bonus and stock grants.
