Thread regarding Apache Corp. layoffs

Why do they lay off the most competent?

Someone I really respected was laid off and I can’t believe they did that to a man of such capacity. He immediately found a new job and there are no problems for him, but I still don’t understand the logic behind it. It's really become apparent they are getting rid off people that no normal company would want to give up. Do the most competent people actually bother them?

Apache promoted some real mediocre players to or within VP levels this past 12-18 months.
Look at the lineup. A bunch of bench warmers anywhere else.

APA hired all these new VPs, some of them without Operator experience, and got rid of all the old APA VPs. Still waiting to see what are their bigger contributions. If you want to be entertained just google DP and his predictions of $80/bbl in 2016. BS can go a long way.

There are several of those that got laid off motivated by politics or some incompetent leader saw them as competitors. It’s GOT at the top, cut the heads of rivals.

Was he truly laid off or fired? Lots of lies at APA. It's all political and the current regime of managers are the worst lot I've ever seen. Get out if you can.

The simple answer to your question, “Yes”. Competence is feared, ignored and/or not understood by Apache.
Getting rid of your (better, more equipped) enemy is an age old strategy of the weak and feeble.

What was his name? Maybe he was not as good as you thought he was.
