Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

Has anyone tried to switch to BNSF?

I stayed in this company only because of my family, otherwise I would have agreed to any other job, even a lower paid job, just to get out of here. Honestly, UP made me feel disgusted with the railroad industry in which I dreamed of working as a boy. Have any of you tried to apply for a job at BN? Is it just as miserable or is it a little better there after all? Somehow it's hard to imagine that it can be worse?

The BN is only marginally better. Some will claim they're not, but in reality they are. The BN board on this site isn't as colorful as the UP board. I made the move to the CP. The decision was hard, and the work is always changing. It definitely wasn't easy, but it was worth it.

It’s swirling down the toilet as well. Terribly run and managed. They’ll be cutting most this year. Don’t waste your time, run to another industry

Switching from one class one to another is pointless. If you leave get out of the railroad industry.

I've talked to various union reps from BNSF, its almost the same. They use heavy handed tactics and don't care about contracts, but they're a little bit better at railroading and nowhere near as stupid as UP. And, they're also running PSR too.
