VERP - Voluntary Early Retirement Program

Lot of senior people seem to have taken this and quitting. Announced late last year, and some or most leaving in March 2021.

Anyone know the details of this program, what were the terms and eligibility? Must've been attractive for so many to opt for it.

My understanding (not confirmed) is that it required 5 years tenure to be eligible. Unclear if/when it will be offered again.

I think Cisco had this a few years back ( did they have more times?) . Their age limit was lower , and had total tenure at company (15 years ?) .

What are the details of qualifications at Jnpr for tenure?

Very common program in the rest of the industry. Juniper VERP is nothing special. A good way to reduce layoffs for the younger work force. Bad for people who just turned 58 and still are valuable but considered obsolete by today's standards.

I took the VERP package and left Dec 1st. As far as I know, this is the first time Juniper offered an early retirement package. In addition to one year of pay, the package included $20,000 to cover health care for a year. The offer was too good to pass up.

Was this a one-time offer, or has it been done before, and likely available later? In Juniper history?

Offered to everyone 58 and older. 1 year of salary. Some left as early as December 1st, but yes, some hanging around until March. This is AFAIK. Would be very enticing IMO.

Haven’t heard this yet for any Junivators but I personally know a few Cisco VERPers who already landed jobs with new companies. I assume Cisco VERP is similar to ours.
