Boo Hoo when Ford gets caught

Nice job Purchasing! Low prices at what cost to Ford. No accountability with management (HTT).

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Ford Motor Co's chief executive, Jim Farley, on Thursday publicly encouraged South Korea's chemicals and electric vehicle (EV) battery maker LG Chem Ltd and SK Innovation Co Ltd to reach a settlement on LG's battery allegations that SK stole trade secrets.

The U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) on Wednesday sided with LG Chem, but permitted SK to import components for domestic production of lithium ion batteries for Ford's EV F-150 program for four years, and for Volkswagen of America's electric vehicle line for two years.

"A voluntary settlement between these two suppliers is ultimately in the best interest of US manufacturers and workers," Farley wrote on Twitter, adding that "ITC ruling makes way for @Ford to bring to market our groundbreaking electric F-150.

NoKo don't care about IP stealing any more than SK and as a bonus they can hook Ford Purchasing up with nuclear tech that will blow lithium ion away for long range ....

For the ultimate in low-low prices, they can go to a North Korean source (NK).

These guys in purchasing make HUGE salaries and I was just a lowly contract engineer. I got cut in April with the "Covid" excuse.. so this is what I have to say about this debacle.

Isn’t there an LL4 who will speak up and set clean up purchasing. My God you are all afraid of your own shadow.

How convenient Ford don't care about LG's IP being stolen if it helps Ford.

I'm sure the Drake, CarCar, and HTT (and green Bill) are fine with GM stealing Ford's IP as long as it helps achieve the lie of a green future to save the world from the existential threat of crime ate change???? Right????

BTW batteries are not as green as internal combustion engines it's all a scam like the other stuff like diversity, feminism, and the other ism's that all derive from Marks Izzum.

Purchasing is engaged in too much horse trading. Cost analysts are essentially nurtured. IE 1st tier supplier gives money back making it impossible to know which cost/price bin to reduce. But Purchasers still get their game suit tickets! Ha ha

HTT and Drake continue to drive product offshore (China) at the cost of US jobs and customers. Why when the China market has rejected the Ford brand.

Per Auto News today:

But after its high of 392,000 sales in 2014, Focus sales went into decline. Last year, as China's automakers worked through the pandemic, the Focus mustered only 35,000 sales, according to China Passenger Car Alliance, the data unit of the China Automobile Dealers Association.

Purchasing is a Den of Thieves. Starts at the top. Just amazing that there is no accountability with this sector within Ford. Where do they find these people?

Certainly leadership is lacking however, Lisa Drake will knife anyone who gets in her way. I believe HTT is a good man, just caught in the web, and trying to stay alive. Pretty said all around.

Purchasing has become an unethical pit that mirrors the 2 top slimeballs in charge - Hau TT and Lisa Drake. They have set the tone and promoted their own sycophants. A snake den that will have to take a massive purge and crack down to clean up. This is only one example of what gross business dealings that have and are going on.

Embarrassing to say the least. Notice the spin on Farleys reference to allegations AFTER the ITC ruled against SK. We can make up our own narrative but that won’t work with earnings. Purchasing in the spotlight again but under the radar for accountability. Just another day at Ford.
