Thoughts on the newly introduced bp Share program? I'm not optimistic. Shares I received as "reward" a few years back have lost over half of their value by now. What a waste. They hang this long carrot in front of us and when it's time to cash in, most of the carrot will be gone with only a nub left. Not happy.

very interesting when looking back at these comments compared to another 'reset' strategy in 2025
The options are worthless if you are retiring before the vesting date.
I really don't care. If you hate your job, leave when you find a better one. If you love your job, stay and enjoy your bonus. Won't change any decisions until we are 6 months till payout.
How many shares for G level in the US?
Wow 100,000 share options really not 10,000 for level F?
That's a big difference even they are options.
5000 for G
100,000 for F
3'000 shares for level H in the UK
How many for level G?
Also, pay attention to the number of shares listed under Your Grant site. The higher number is for UK based employees, the lower, smaller number in parentheses is for US employees. Use the correct one in the modeler. It is really peanuts.
Top level get options (ie get zero if SP doesn’t increase) while G and below get restricted share units (ie guaranteed money regardless of SP movement). So that ‘10-15 times’ is very misleading
The reinvent share program has succeeded in p*ssing off a lot of people in the company. The team leader level are getting 10 - 15 times the value compared to the next level down of experienced professionals. Those people now don’t feel worth very much. It will divide teams. It will cost billions of dollars in 4 years time which will mostly go to the 4000 or so eligible employees at the top (the same ones who designed the scheme). Management are in cuckoo land if they think this is how to get teams to perform.
The shares given were options and not grants. If BP share price doesn't increase in 4 years you don't make any money. There is usually a time limit to exercise the grants and they will expire worthless.
not a good enough incentive to stay imho. Anyone under 35 will be looking at options outside of O&G to ensure they have a job later in their working life.
With the reduction of redundancy terms and the ending of the final salary pension in the U.K., something like this is quite important to buy staff loyalty. A lot of people will move on as soon as the job market improves - particularly any experienced staff left in traditional oil and gas roles. O&G is vital to BP over the next 10 years, as it’s the source of the money to invest in renewables.
The shares won’t make up for doing a job that you dislike for 4 years, but if you enjoy your job then just think of the shares as free money, they may not massively increase in value but they’ll probably grow a small amount.
The share price is at a very low valuation right no, so this grant will be worth at lot when it matures. If it's worth much less in five years: the company is probably on the way out anyway, so the grant should be the least of your worries!
Take up the offer and tuck them away, the value will return for sure if you wait a few years
BPX LTI now for BP.........
It’s decent... SP at historic lows and oil price on the up we are very underpriced
Be happy you at least have a job and BP gave you some shares as bonus!!!
