I work in store management and was surprised by Macy’s HR letting workers return without negative tests or if they were exposed but didn’t have symptoms. They did not follow through with effective contact tracing and managers were encouraged to conceal from associates about others being out on quarantine to avoid panic. We can’t kick out customers who don’t wear masks. So who’s side are they on? Their bottom line OR colleague safety .. you decide.

Company policy is setup to ensure that Macy's rarely has to notify colleagues about positive cases in a store. If a team member reports that they have tested positive and they have not worked within the last 72 hours, our policy is that people who work in the store don't have to be notified. The funny thing is that by the time someone if feeling the effects of the virus and calls out sick, then contacts their doctor and gets an appointment for a test, and then gets the test results....it is almost always longer than 72 hours when they get the test results.
Our store is in the Midwest and we have had several cases and no one was notified by the company, even with many people having worked with the person when they were surely contagious. We would rather spend time celebrating a pulse survey and questions about racism in our store of all white people than protecting employees from the virus. Thankfully, we will have access to the vaccine in the near future, just keep your finger crossed about getting covid at work.
I also was surprised you don't have to test negative to return. But the CDC backs this up, that even if you still test positive 14 days later, you are not shedding virus.
Still seems unsafe to me, though.
I was texted that I was in close contact with someone who was positive outside of macys. Informed store manager and he sent me home right away and made me open a case with HR. I quarantined the time I was told and even with a negative result they still made me finish my time in quarantine before returning to work.
No matter what part of the store you work, it s—s!The big M is a sweat shop. Plain and simple. They should be exposed for the monsters they are!!!!
Those of you saying wrong and calling bs do you work out on the floor? I've noticed sales associates and people who work more behind the scenes have a very different experiences with macys
Wrong !
I agree with below. I am in a c-ap store where we half a– everything and it's taken seriously. The problems described here are either exaggerated, represent a store-specific issue, or perhaps a misunderstanding. I'm sure some stores are bad, no doubt, but the company is not encouraging it.
The comments are such BS I'm reading. I work for Macy's and Covid is taken VERY seriously. I'll bet the people commenting don't actually work for Macy's.
Working for Macy’s is kind of like being born into a dysfunctional family...You just except anything to keep going !Who among you can relate ???
Our associate was told NOT to tell other associates, so as not to scare them. This was by store management. She quietly did, so we could get tested, since she was at work with all of us, and she was exhibiting symptoms. Bottom line, everyone was ok and the associate is now back.
Pressured to work because of money ... need to pay rent & have kids. But this worries me, as I’ve had my suspicions since Covid began.
The store I’m at recently had an associate pass away, very devastating for all of us.
Interesting! I didn't think my store had, had a case since last year whenever we were first furloughed now im starting to wonder if its because there's been cover ups
I’ve had anti-maskers harass or ignore me because they don’t want to wear a mask when I ask them to put one on. I wish I could kick them out of the store. Very upset our corporate policy doesn’t allow us to do that.
We NEED more transparency. This is not right!
I left Macy’s two months ago and am so happy I made the decision to leave. This company worries more about their profits than their associates getting sick and dying from this virus. These months of lockdown have really revealed the company’s true colors and where their priorities are at.
Makes me scared to go work when I know others around me might be sick but haven’t been tested. I have a vulnerable dad at home I live with, and every time I go to a shift I worry about his safety.
Other stores like Target & Costco do not let you stay inside if you don’t wear your mask, we should do the same.
