Letter from Melanie Williams

Frontier Florida Team Members
As you know, the labor contracts covering our unionized workforce in Florida expired on July 20, 2019. We are writing to update you on the status of contract negotiations, as we will continue to do from time-to-time during bargaining.
Shortly before contract expiration in mid-2019, the Union and the Company agreed to an indefinite extension that either party could terminate with 90-days’ notice. Some initial bargaining meetings were held in May through July 2019, followed by several meetings in February and March 2020. In April 2020, the Company filed for bankruptcy and no bargaining sessions were held for the next 5 months. In September 2020, the Company gave notice that it wished to resume bargaining, and meetings were held periodically from September through January of this year.
Last month, the Company gave IBEW notice terminating the contract on April 16, 2021. We believe this was the right time to pick up the pace of negotiations and try to make real progress towards reaching a new agreement: the labor contracts expired over 18 months ago, the Company anticipates emerging from bankruptcy under new ownership early this year, and there has been limited progress in negotiations thus far.
In the coming weeks, you will be hearing from both the Union and the Company about the issues being negotiated. Proposals and counter-proposals will be exchanged and modified. And while we can’t predict what the exact outcome of these negotiations will be, one thing is certain: we offer our unionized workforce good jobs with competitive compensation and benefits now, and we will continue to do so in the next contract.
We will update you further as developments in these negotiations warrant.
Thank you for all that you are doing to serve our customers during these challenging times

I’ve known Melanie for the last 20 years from Verizon. She has spent her entire career crying racism every time she didn’t get a promotion. This letter means absolutely nothing.

You emerge from bankruptcy by not owing money, FTR will still owe money. 2nd bankruptcy coming? Probably drop Florida, keep Texas and CA. Break the union in all 3 states... slowly. This will done methodically. Plan properly. The union has no leverage for a bankrupt company.

MW - the most useless person ever. Love the way she speaks in that affected manner of hers. A Zero at GTE, Zero at VZ, Regional President at FTR. Classic!

Cletus' attitude when communication like this comes out is exactly why any IBEW members in Florida are still with out a contract. Management would never eat out of the palm of pathetic union scum, the company simply wants work continuation this is not a time to celebrate the company is emerging from a bankruptcy filing and another replacement CEO in under 5 years, this is terrible performance and trying to celebrate a negotiation at this time shows ineptitude. This is truly pathetic from both sides. Do yourselves a favor and find a new company to work for and get out of that union while you are at it, this is not where anyone WANTS to be.

Our picket sent shock waves all throughout Frontier. We forced them back to the negotiating table. We have management eating out of the palm of our hand and now is the time to strike. Melanie is petrified right now and I bet she is willing to give us all that we ask. My prediction is that we will have a new contract within the month and we will get everything we demand. This is indeed a great time to be in IBEW! Cletus out....

I thought the whole point of bankruptcy was to eliminate unions.
All the cartel buy-outs in the world have that objective.

They can install Alshon Jefferey if they want - it wont matter. Nothing will stop this company from going right back into bankruptcy a year or two after it gets out of this one.

New Frontier Owners

Frontier’s bankruptcy plan will give four investment firms — Elliott Management, Franklin Mutual, Golden Tree Asset Management, and HG Vora, effective control over Frontier. The four are reportedly behind the decision to install Jeffery as Frontier’s new CEO to protect their financial interests.
