There will be an appeal. UP likes for people to abide by contracts when it benefits them but not other way around. Expect more layoffs in Palestine to come.

Who really didn't see that coming? They've always found a BS way out of things they had contractual agreements with. The UP does not care one damn bit about the future. It only cares about the present. Make the cuts, make the company bleed, and get out before it dies. The only thing that is certain now is that the company is guaranteeing that the best workers will be working somewhere else. It's obvious they don't want the best workforce, or a workforce period. It's just too sad to watch a company like UP do this to the workers, and not give a sh1t about the communities.
Funny because UP hires a lot of former prison guards and limo drivers. Makes sense.
There's 5 state prisons outside of Palestine. Always hiring.
Oops, 4. One is getting/got shut down. Still, plenty of of jobs for poor waifs.
Guess those managers will be fighting the carmen for the jobs at the local grocery store.
I hear Desoto is nice this time of year.
But the spokeswoman said it’s just to keep the business competitive.. it probably has absolutely nothing to do with shutting Palestine down. I believe her 🤥

Try laying off on a weekend or to watch the super bowl and see if UP will enforce the attendance rules or just let it slide. Do rules and contracts mean anything or only if you like them?

Where did you get this info? I can’t find anything about this in the internet.
Yeah these guys don’t abide by their union contracts. Should have agreement employees testify for said company getting the shaft from Uncle Pete. I lose money daily because agreed upon penalties never get paid.
