Why do I feel like I have checked myself in to a looney bin that gives me a paycheck to stay and act like everything is fine?

Maybe all the complainers should see what life is like after being laid off. It’s not so easy especially for older workers that were let go. I think Staples let the wrong people go....the hard workers that enjoyed their jobs. But then that’s the way it usually is with companies. Keep the complainers and let the non-complainers go!!
That feeling went away for me the day I was let go. Such a relief .. life is better post-Staples
Is it really a shock when great people leave the company now?
Generally, similar to PTSD, sufferers show signs of: insomnia, confusion, and have difficulty trustng others.
Corporate Stockholm Syndrome: can be defined as employees of a business beginning to identify with—and being deeply loyal to—an employer who mistreats them (defined in this situation as verbal abuse, demanding overly long hours, and generally ignoring the wellbeing and emotional needs of the employee).
Stockholm syndrome: is a psychological response. It occurs when hostages or abuse victims bond with their captors or abusers. This psychological connection develops over the course of the days, weeks, months, or even years of captivity or abuse.
Unfortunately, this is the norm at Staples. Your comment is spot on! Life after Staples is better than staying from my POV. Staples is a train wreck!
If you are feeling this way- I hope your are looking for other employment. Doesn’t sound healthy for you or those you work with.
