Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

People are exaggerating

I don't know where your stores are but I'm having trouble believing that some of the locations are as filthy as some people are trying to make it sound they are. Is our location perfect? Of course not. But it's maintained well enough that customers' complaints - when we get them - are usually related to something another customer did that same day and we failed to notice in time. Other than that, we make sure it's as clean and sorted as we can. I think other people are intentionally exaggerating to make it seem much worse than it is. Not sure why, though.

In NE Ohio stores there is no one to fix these problems now and when we did tell nothing changed anyway. The solution in 3 stores I knew personally was to just close them permanently, smart Macy's.

Go to Macy's in Long Island, New York. The bathrooms are probably one of the worst in the world! I don't know how people, ESPECIALLY WOMEN, can be so goddamn disgusting....

Our bathrooms are so bad sometimes! The toilets are filthy, paper on the floor, water everywhere. I feel for the cleaning crew that has to take care of this. Our store was also overrun with mice, At night at closing they just come out and run around. That, however, has been better since the closure last year. Maybe they finally had heavy duty exterminators in...

No exaggeration here, they had to shut down a bathroom because the store (or cleaning crew) could not keep it clean. There were constant complaints, associates refused to even use it.
It was Bad!

NE Ohio stores have gotten worse in the last few years. It is not just dirt though it is ripped - stained carpets, floors cracking and falling apart...I could continue on.

So corporate knows how bad stores can get? What are their thoughts on it and why doesn't there seem to be much change after a visit?

I can't talk about today, but one of the creepiest nasty experiences of my shopping life was in the Herald Square men's room. Filthy, smelly, literally revolting, with a certain type of male standing by most stalls or cruising the urinal stands.
Literally something I will never ever forget inside the "world famous" Herald Square Macys.

As someone mentioned a while back, even stores in the most upscale of malls have fallen into a state not unlike KMart.

Speaking of rats, to quote a certain recently departed one of NYC fame, 'It is what it is".

There are so many rats that we run in fear in the warehouse... mold is another story it falls down thru the air conditioning vents and builds up on the counters. We have no security so its a scary place to work. When shop lifters come in it's.a nightmare..They have no human decency or respect for employees....honestly if I drop dead no one would care. Its a dog and pony show...just change the name to macy mart. This is the truth...

As a former Corporate employee who would travel the country visiting stores, I can definitely tell you that some stores are extremely dirty. There is a huge different between some of the NY stores Vs the Midwest or CA stores. I visited one store where there was a feces issue as well as consistent rats. Don’t assume people are exaggerating because they have different experiences than you.

The black mold in the men's restroom is terrible in my store. Carpets are stained and gross. Wood fixtures are scratched and shop worn. Dont let me tell you about the fitting rooms.

Get your head out of the sand. You have low standards.

People are definitely exaggerating. Stores aren't perfect but definitely not dumps. They would rather complain on here than actually talk to someone in their store who can do something to fix it. Housekeeping has been cut down like every position in the stores. Start communicating.

In the downtown Boston store you will find in the small furniture department customers sitting at dining room tables eating their fast food lunch . Others laying on the beds using their phones and groups of people just hanging out sitting on the sofas. They are not there to buy. You might find discarded Needles or p–p on the floor in the fitting room. The restrooms are beyond description. This is a flagship store. The Natick store smells like a dirty clothes hamper sprayed with lysol with it's grimey cracked floor tiles and stained ceiling tiles . You could also go sliding on one of the empty clothes hangers on the floor or trip on a pile of clothes an understaffed store can not maintain. I do not want to give my hard earned money to Macys any longer. They respect no one. They have low standards and they do have some filthy neglected stores.
