I'm not saying that I'd like the store to close, but now that I think about it a little better - it would be better if it closed earlier than later. There seem to be too many of us in the job market now and finding a new job is harder than ever. At least for me it is. With so many stores closed and so many layoffs in retail, I wonder where all of us who lost our jobs will eventually settle down.

You knew the company is going down the toilet so why didn't you go and find a new job earlier rather than waiting until the end? As you say now it's harder to find jobs and the pandemic has changed retail forever. Those who waited rather than sending new jobs will suffer.
