Thread regarding Optum layoffs

On my way out

I have decided to take my destiny in my own hands at optum... And leave on my terms. Here's what I want to know from those who have already gotten out of here:

  • how long does health insurance coverage last?
  • if I give notice prior to yearly review, am I no longer eligible to receive bonus? To clarify: if I give notice, but final day of employment falls after review. Since review is for 2020 metrics, ethically I would be entitled... But we know how important ethics are around here.

Last question:
I'm currently taking advantage of tuition reimbursement... How long until optum comes after me for the 2 semesters they paid for?

That's american employment at will/whim. It is only in the us empire. Any employer can fire you with or without notice, for anything, or nothing, any reason, no reason, at any time.

Something to consider. The two weeks notice is a courtesy. They have the right to terminate your employment immediately. I personally would wait until your incentive payment is paid out. It's not too much longer. Also, agree with someone prior. Take your PTO if the work is unbearable vs notice.

In addition to everything the others have said, don't forget about your Bravos. Cash them out now. Convert them into Amazon Gift cards. Also, give as many Bravos as you can to your coworkers. This will let them remember you fondly....

Right now, I would wait at least 6 weeks to see if you are in layoff pool so you get better deal. You can negotiate things at that point. I understand the suffering. I see your point. But wait just a bit longer because you could be on the list and you do not want to give up any benefits. There are options you can take while employed.

If you really really cannot stand it. Go to HR and complain. You will be move to front of the layoff pool.

And if its due to Covid ( which you can say), Biden is going to give you extra money.

Make sure you get that cobra bc the US doesnt have health care. It will of course cost you, but at least it's like a discount program in case you get sick. good luck and never ever work of corporate america

You won’t get your bonus if you give notice before it’s paid out (3/2).

I believe tuition reimbursement will be pulled from your last paycheck. It’s prorated based on the requirement to stay 2 years after receiving those funds.

Hi, before you submit your notice, use your pto up first, then put in your notice. Honestly I wouldn't leave before securing my bonus. If your willing to leave before having that discussion tells me that you're probably under a lot of stress. I recommend that you take time off to think about things first. Or request a leave of absence for extreme stress, after you get your bonus, to think about your next steps. Regarding tuition reimbursement, you should check on the hub when you can expect to pay that back.

Health insurance will be in effect until the first of the following month that you resign. Then You pay for expensive Cobra or get your own. Tuition reimbursement and bonus will not happen if you are not employed and the date of payment. Don’t leave without securing another job.

You have health insurance until the end of the month that you resign. If you resign at the beginning of the month, you have it until the last day of the month. Don't forget to take your PTO. Good luck.

You have health insurance for maybe 30 days then you can continue with Cobra for 18 months for at least 650 per month that you would pay. If you have a bind plan not sure what premium would look like. You will get zero bonus if you leave before your review. You will not get paid for any PTO in your bank. Unsure about tuition.
