Prediction for the next round of closures in April 2021 After this round closes

So with the current list that began liquidation sales today which is Thursday, February 4th, 2021, and will close by Sunday, April 18th, 2021. We can assume that the next round will be announced by Thursday, April 22nd, 2021 on Earth Day to hear about the next round though it is subject to change due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. But man that would be interesting to hear about more Sears & Kmart closures on Earth Day. But yeah I would say another 2 to 3 rounds and this company is DONE as a whole.

It is a Sears that sells some grocery items in the basement as a convenience. Like some WM's carry frozen Arbys and White Castle products in their frozen aisles but nobody refers to them as an Arbys. They are a WM that sells a few Arbys products.

Nope, it's not a full line Kmart. Just some limited grocery items in basement. No distinct store manager.

My guess is the states with multiple Kmarts will each lose 1 store. The 2 solo state stores will probably go as will the last Puerto Rico store, for a total of 7 stores in the next round, bringing total down to 17 Kmarts left. The 5 island stores, will survive till the end.

Yep, Guam and VI, probably last. In those areas, he as a virtual monopoly due to no competition. And Amazon is less of a thing in those islands, due to shipping costs, so people just shop at Kmart by default. But stateside, there are Target, Wally, so many others, not to mention online shopping, so Kmart is insignificant. Even in Puerto Rico, they only have 1 non-closing store (as does Sears, now).

Guam will be the last to close.

Using a great list... and I agree with your predictions!

I think most of the Sears would come from that JLL list. This round closed 10 out of 29. I think for Kmart it might be the 4 in Florida or a few here and there from NY/NJ/CA without wiping out a state completely.

No way, on that prediction below. Why would the close Guam & USVI first? They are probably most Profitable. The only ones agree on are Hamilton, Marshall. Also what's with all those goofy numbers after each town's name and O's, LOL?

I predict that these will be the next stores to close:

Costa Mesa California 4047 2200 O
Freedom California 3725 1702 O
Grass Valley California 9746 111 O
South Lake Tahoe California 9153 1056 O
Tamuning Guam 7705 404 LC
Marshall Michigan 3841 15861 LC
Hamilton Montana 9808 1235 O
Hato Rey Puerto Rico 7783 525 O
St. Croix Virgin Islands 3972 Sunny Isles O
St. Croix Virgin Islands 7413 Fredericksted O
St. Thomas Virgin Islands 7793 10th St O
St. Thomas Virgin Islands 3829 Tutu Park Mall O

I predict that they will become a primarily east coast chain (until the round after the upcoming one is closed) and that they will close the above stores due to the high shipping costs to get the items there.

: @1utw+19fJv1K8 I don't think that anybody who buys it has to do anything to turn it into a half-assed junky website selling c-ap, it already is

@1utw The S/K onlines were already purchased by their "Fingerhut" company, Transformco. See?

@1mnb+19fJv1K8, 'Wards' online has zero connection to the previous company besides the name....it's just a rebadged 'Fingerhut' type of company.

I'm sure someone will buy the Sears and Kmart IP for pennies on the dollar too and create some sort of half-assed junky website selling c-ap.

Marketplace. Most of the product on the onlines is marketplace.

Taking the stores in Puerto Rico as an example, after the last round of closings only one Sears and one Kmart store remain. Where they locate their premises is the same shopping mall, and the most expensive in terms of rent. How will they survive, if there is no merchandise coming in and no customers either?

Every time someone posts a prediction, I take a drink. This company will never be done because the onlines will live on. Look at Montgomery Wards, wards.com is still selling!
