Thread regarding Cummins Inc. layoffs

Layoffs?

I get the meme: layoffs are on the horizon, so kiss some a– and make it through to the next one. Why did this site become a "b–ch about beautiful people getting no promotions or all the promotions" board instead of the old "layoffs are coming sooner than expected" board?

They will lay off Americans and hire back cheap Indian and Chinese engineers. I was part of the layoff in 17 and now make 32% more with better benefits and never looking back. Because of my experience at Cummins I will NEVER allow an Indian or Chinese tech professional hire into our organization. It will be an Americans only and I sit on almost all hiring boards

I hear all of that! I too witnessed the “Diversity Olympics.” In fact, Cummins funded and sponsored the Diversity Olympics at a local park in Columbus back in 2014 titled the “Diversity Olympics.” It was a full on celebration of non-citizens, work-visas taking away American jobs. It was an all day Friday event, food was catered in, competitions between business units, all in recognition and celebration of “diversity.”
Not diversity in talent, but diversity in race. Non-citizens, work-visas taking American jobs with sub-talent, and sub-wages. The non-citizen, work-visa holders had no say-so. It’s all Executive Leadership signing off on it all.
That’s the Cummins Way: cost-cutting by downsizing and restructuring. Not innovation and market expansion, but substitution, and displacement of Americans by the hands of Americans.

The “Performance” metrics is instead “Diversity” metrics. I scored a 1 for several years in a row, and applied for an open role. Interview went well, fully qualified, several upper management referrals, but HR decided that they needed to diversify the team. Everyone on the team was white, and they brought in a minority from out-of-state to fill the role. I was already in the office, everyone knew me, my performance and likelihood to succeed on their team. Instead, HR (in a totally different building who didn’t know anyone on the team; only the race metrics) decided to override and bring in a stranger, less qualified, to fulfill the role. Likewise, I witnessed another fully qualified candidate apply for a role, he had scored 1’s for several years, in the building, and everyone knew him and his impact. Again, the team was all white. HR decided to relocate someone from China to fill the role. HR brought this person into the US, and put that person in charge of the existing team. I witnessed this dynamic several times in my 15 year tenure.

All HR is good for anymore at Cummins or any other company is hiring people of color and then making sure they keep 90% of them out of trouble because they weren't qualified and had a reverse racist / bad attitude to begin with. Tough words but true. I experienced this every day for the last 10 years. It is way worse as of late. Everyone knows it and has to keep quiet / stay afraid (especially managers) or you lose your job if you take action on anything. Sad state of affairs. Pretty soon there will be no one left with any real experience, hard work ethic or big kahunas. This is already causing the downfall of Cummins related to productivity.

No surprise: no innovation; sustaining stagnation for several years. No market expansion, only global downsizing. Company will eventually be sold to China or India. “Sales declined in all major regions except China, where demand for trucks and construction equipment reached record levels.”

Revenues for the full year 2020 were $19.8 billion, 16 percent lower than 2019.
Sales in North America declined 21 percent and international revenues declined 7 percent.
Continual decline every year.

Performance over a– kiss kissers. Career a– kissers are a dime a dozen. Easily replaced and forgotten the next day. Pride with performance, or pride with face in rotating a–? A– kissers are inherent in the continual downfall of Cummins.

Yea, they are going to lay off. They want to reduce the HR from 1300 to 250 worldwide. Which is codeword for most of those HR's being in the US for one. And if they are going to layoff them then it would make sense any type of staffing that support them or is part of their infrastructure to operate will be reduced also.
