Thread regarding Staples Inc. layoffs

Staples Canada and SBA?

Any news on what is happening over at Staples Canada, specifically around SBA? Marketing and Merchandising have been merged together (no news on layoffs yet) - but what is happening to the rest of SBA, especially sales? Do we think they could fold in this year?

I was let go in November...they seem to be targeting the older employees that have been there for a while. The ones with the higher salaries.

SBA was to move to Richmond Hill...not sure if that happened.

Sycamore trying to unload this dinosaur and cant. No well-run company is going to buy a retail chain that still thinks brick and mortar is the future.
They also believe they can compete with Amazon for on-line sales...they cant...Staples prices are 20-30% higher

Rumour is they are contemplating closing the doors and selling off the pieces...already sold the Richmond Hill building two years ago...

Still waiting to see what it means for sales, sales ops and pricing. It could just become a part of Staples Canada. Probably the best thing in the long run. Though a lot of people will end up being let go, or will leave. Marketing and Merchandising are t looking forward to working out of Richmond Hill.
