Thread regarding McKesson Corp. layoffs

When will IT wake up?

So many talented leaders leaving because they can’t tolerate the toxicity any longer. To leave on their own accord after relocating or to leave before bonus time is huge. This is NOT attrition (as they keep trying to say) and this is not because these people aren’t strong (as they also try to say). It is because of leadership- plain and simple. And it will continue to happen.

Wake up and take notice before it’s too late.

It’s called an inside scoop. Logic = sound.

So the thought process that someone got a role is indicative that they left on their own. Your thought process is flawed. Notice periods do exist even though not required.

The leaders exiting are landing great jobs at other companies. Perhaps they no longer desire to remain and aren’t being exited as suggested.

Perhaps it isn’t attrition but people being exited?

The new CTO has lost 50% of her leadership team due to the toxic culture she supports. These leaders had choices unlike what she wants people to believe. They are choosing to look for other jobs, or leave on their own, or transfer to get out of the department. Like a previous post. People are leaving bad bosses. This will continue as she continues to hire her friends (that won’t be friends after they join). In the end, the lack of leadership from the CIO, CISO, and CTO will continue to drive instability and the people will continue to get yelled at for not meeting up to unrealistic expectations. Many hope BT will take action but hope is starting to fade.

While the new CTO seems decent enough, I think there are toxic issues stemming from more senior levels within IT/ISRM. Ever since the new global CIO and CISO onboarded in early 2020 it's been a major s*** storm. If there's to be any finger pointing, it's there. They're the ones who are setting the toxic tone from the top. By the time things filter down, no one understands what the objectives are anymore and ppl are just getting tired of the always-moving goal posts. IT is trying to be very aspirational just to show off to the rest of the business. But no one seems to want to tackle cleaning up some of the basic fundamentals as these don't make for nice in-the-green dashboards.

The company does not really care about IT, it’s just another cost center for them. And the less they can spend on it, the better. So who cares if IT leaders s— and are there just to satisfy “diversity and inclusion” quotas. McKesson makes money by controlling a huge chunk of wholesale d–g distribution market, and IT has nothing to do with it.
