I am debating whether to accept a solid new job and start all over again, or to stay for a while longer to see how the situation will develop further. I wonder if it is even worth staying here, mainly, will the company recover and how long could the recovery take?
This company used to have a lot more to offer to its workers, but I’m afraid it won’t come back.

Nothing is going to get better here! We’re supposed to be “thankful” for having a job but in all honesty Emerson needs to be thankful for us who have stuck around. Until they truly understand that the employees make this company things will never change. Regardless if you want to think this way or not, you’re just a employee number at Emerson, they don’t care one way another about any of us. If you have a good offer at a company that will appreciate you, I would already be gone. Trust me, there are companies who pay more and takes better care of you. Emerson is all about their shareholders and could care less. It s—s that I now realize this after 20 years with different BU’s, but this is the time you have to worry about you because emerson doesn’t. That’s pretty blunt but the truth from what I have saw over the last few years.
Your perception is spot on. What WAS is NOT coming back. Emerson is a ship that has sunk; it just doesn't know it yet. I have seen four worker reductions in just 10 years; the company doesn't value knowledge or experience. It puts shareholder returns / profits over customer support and needs. Forget about "if you build it they will come". Lately all I here about is "culture" and "diversification". Product development albeit as it was, is misled or just plain dead in the water.
Move on and look back upon your Emerson experience as an example of not what to do.
I left RAS in Watertown to work for a (soon to be former) customer. Let me be the first to tell you that I've been RAKING IT IN ever since I left. Plus they hired me instead of paying for a support contract from RAS. Given the toxic culture and misery over there, it feels so good to not only leave that dinosaur swamp, but to take one of their customers to boot. Leave while you have the opportunity, you'll have zero regrets.
I made the mistake of staying during the last downturn in 2016. My division improved as the energy market improved, but everything was not as good as before. Spending was reduced, training was non-existent. The positions of employees that were laid off or quit were not replaced. This company goes in cycles that are closely tied to the oil price. That will continue to be the case, and even worse as the new CEO wants to get out of that market. It is a dying business.
Why would you be afraid of starting over? Don't let that hold you back. Lot of my ex-collegues are doing much better and they all got pay bumps that they would have never gotten at Emerson if they stayed. I got out and I'm doing fine. Get out if you have an offer.
If you have opportunity to get out why would you want to stay at a company with a toxic culture that was created and perpetuated by the current CEO/COO?
Come on man, is this a real question or a joke?
Here let me make it simple for ya...will the dinosaurs ever come back?
