Thread regarding Boeing Co. layoffs

Jokes on you Boeing

I am 38 years old, I’ve only worked at Boeing for 11 years. From day one I put 8% in VIP but always just left it in the targeted fund. It did ok, but after MAX grounding, the stock went from $460 range to under $100 (under 80 was bottom). I transferred ALL of my VIP funds to Boeing stock the day it dropped under $100. It was right around when I went top of scale in a grade 8 job title. I changed my contributions to 15% and put 100% in Boeing Stock Fund for last couple years.
I also took advantage of the FREE SCHOOLING and got a BA in Business Management and got 100 shares of restricted shares of Boeing stock (I already had an AA before I got to Boeing so I got 100 shares for BA) that I had to hold for three years. I got my unrestricted shares (minus taxes of 14 shares) mid 2020.
Long story short-
I am now a millionaire a few times over (my VIP is at 3,375,261 and the 86 shares of stock is worth another $22,628 and my wife has her own 401k and has $245,364.25 in hers).
I sold my house a month ago and pocketed $428,000
So, I’m 38, debt free, over a million dollars of liquidity and several millions more in retirement account.

THANK YOU FOR THE OPPORTUNITY BOEING
But bye

Since you can't access your 401k until you are 59 1/2 years old without major penalties what is your plan for the next 21 years? I too am in a similar situation but a few years older. You could survive on the outside investment (I think you mentioned it being just over 1 million dollars) but it certainly wouldn't be an extravagant lifestyle. I'm in Southern California so my living expenses probably do differ from yours greatly but I couldn't handle the desert southwest in the spring or summer. Just to hot.

I love it.
People that are saying my math is off have no idea how much I transferred from old job in my 401 K and how much I kept in stocks. I included the stocks I have in a "piggy back" IRA since I can't hold common stock in Boeing's retirement account. But, it's STILL part of my Boeing retirement portfolio.
I signed on with a startup with some colleagues in the semi conductor machining industry. We created a revolutionary machining process to create proprietary process chambers in partnership with Novellus (LRCX bought them), who in turn made chips for INTEL (INTC) and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) to name a few. The company that supplied our material was Applied Materials (AMAT) Look up ALL of those stocks from early/mid 2000's and look at what they are now. I invested heavily in those and since it was a joint venture with Novellus, we were given stock options in lieu of pay AND could purchase more at discounted share price. Novellus was bought out in a 3+BILLION dollar buyout by Lam Research. I was paid HANDSOMELY for my investment. I include all of this in my Boeing retirement numbers id–ts. I didn't think I would need to break it down, but I will since I have time..... I'm retired, remember?
Go ahead and keep questioning my numbers though, this is fun LMAO.
AMAT $16.30 Cost Average - $117/ share today
AMD $7.74 cost average - $78.56/ share today
INTC $28.37 cost average - $63.98/ share today
Novellus bought by Lam Research for (12.5% premium above share price - CASHED OUT

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a fresh adult beverage to enjoy here in Arizona. Watch the Mariners spring training game tomorrow at 6:40 at the Peoria Complex, maybe you'll see...... enjoy working troglodytes

You are sort of correct. The highest Boeing COMMON stock has ever CLOSED at is $440.62
If you look in the VIP it’s the Boeing Stock Fund. The share price is HIGHER than common stock. But I can see where you are confused since I did say Boeing stock. I assumed everyone understood I was referring to the Boeing Stock Fund in our VIP
Next.

Numbers seem a bit off. I am 37 years old and been here last 10 years. I have been grinding and saving as well. I am worth around 1 million but continue to work because I need a lot more to be financially free.

OP
Don't mind the haters winners want to see others win. Boeing's full of toxic people like some of the ones on this thread so it's good you got out. My life completely turned around after I left

The highest Boeing stock has ever been is 440$, so how the 460$ is a lie. You sound like a complete fraud who lies when telling a story.

So many haters lol.
It's very satisfying to arouse such strong negative reactions to my success. I could tell you about all the times I lost money, do you have 12 hours? I just happened to get INCREDIBLY lucky with a few stocks that shot to the moon. I don't care if you believe me or not. My accounts don't lose money because some mechanic at Boeing says negative things about my person. I have helped so many other people that I don't care. My brother passed away from a car accident and left behind 2 young sons. I started an anonymous college fund in his name and mailed the paperwork etc to his wife. My family doesn't know of my success. You ask why I would post on here? Because it's anonymous and nobody knows who I am. It's a way for me to share my story and maybe somebody else will gamble like I did. I wish you all the same luck. Good day.

Great happy for you. A keyboard cowboys gone from Boeing. The working class will not miss you. And in the end your numbers do not work. So in the end your fellow workers and Boeing are very happy you are gone. Wish you the best

My math is good.
I transferred my previous employers IRA over. I could buy individual securities with it. I worked in the semi conductor industry so I bought a lot of AMD at $1.85-$5 range, it’s at $78.12 today. I also bought stock in a little known company called Digital Turbine (used to be called Mandalay Digital Group) when it was under $1 and being threatened with delisting. It’s around $77 range as well. Also bought GOOGLE and Amazon early on. I’ve hit a few home runs, I’ve struck out a lot too lol. Lucky I guess.

Awesome. Congratulations. Typical ZERO response when someone says you’re the problem. You were just intelligent enough to control your destiny and strong enough to make the difficult decisions. Well done.
