Thread regarding Belmont School District layoffs

Where's the data?

No topics listed. Why not?

MY first topic would be: how many teachers and staff in Belmont were laid off due to covid, both as an actual number and a percentage of total employees?

Next would be, how many were not laid off, and how much were they paid during their covid leave?

Finally, why is "Revenue Information" left blank? Isn't it important that we understand the baseline info and what impact layoffs would have?

It would be very helpful to have that information presente4d here, or offer links pointing to it.

I don't know about your school district, but our district and the teachers around us were so desperate for warm bodies they were looking for high school degrees and a pulse to fill seats and babysit because 1) that's who was available and 2) that's all they could afford. It's not like school districts have a choice. They had to transform everyone to digital with no budget because taxpayers were losing their shirts, so nobody voted for school bonds and increased property taxes. If your school board didn't provide for an emergency rainy day fund, well, it's time to elect a new board, preferably one that adds the fable of the Ant and the Grasshopper as mandatory reading for the job.
