Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Another One Bites The Dust

Just heard that our DVP lost his job after the new regional came out and did some unannounced Sunday visits a few weeks ago. We’re waiting to hear who the new boss is going to be. He was only here since July during a pandemic year so it seems weird that he was cut after 30 years with company. We only had one visit but he was nice and seemed like a good leader on the district calls.

This new person will be like the fifth district VP we will have had since 2020 and we’re on our third regional since then as well. It's like working for a different company every time there's a change and even though we don't have any merchandise we’re once again moving everything around the store and painting walls all over the place to match the changes.

Given our inventory levels it seems kinda pointless to move keep moving everything around, we barely have merchandise on the selling floor, let alone in the stockrooms. This is one of the reasons why so many people don't want to move up with the company, the higher you go the better the chance your job will be eliminated or you’ll be fired. It’s clear that the only reason we keep moving everything around is so that the regional people can try to justify their jobs.

Welcome to the sinking ship, as we slip slowly under the waves rats gets pushed into the water to make room for those pitiful few remaining who have to keep bailing even faster until it becomes their turn to swim.

Why don’t they cut off merchandiser, Marketing, production side? A lot of white collar are not working. They just act they are working. No knowledge, design are worst. Fitting are worst. And pay for high costing. One of reason the boat is sinking.

Blizzard of the decade in our neck of the woods and we still had to come into work because the new region won't approve closing stores because we might lose a few pennies. People are replaceable, she spends all of her time talking about how important being #1 is to her on the regional calls, doesn't give a hoot about the people who work in the stores.

Several people got stuck trying to go home and had to get their cars towed because we couldn't close the store on a day when the mall never even opened and we were the only place where people had to go to work. It just gets worse and worse, thank goodness the pandemic is almost over so we can find a job someplace else.

No, she doesn’t care about people. One time I heard she screamed at a store manager. I was like that was a solution in store, right there but I have a feeling people are afraid of losing their jobs so no one reported her unprofessional behavior. I mean you can easily tell which store manager reports the incident. Sigh.. The DVP the poster is talking about would never do that. I’ll take “nickel” over dime any day if you know what I mean ;)

Sounds like she trained with the new regional, met her and she couldn't care less about people.

I think I know who you’re talking about. He was my DVP before the pandemic. He was good. Very professional and caring unlike my current DVP. She is just cold and very single minded.
