Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Not being able to rest enough during the days off?

I used to be able to enjoy different activities during my free days but now my free days are reduced to a mere recovery from stress, I am so tired that all I can do is sleep. Even so, it is barely enough time for me to regain enough energy to keep on going.
This is not normal. I’m starting to worry about how daily stress will affect my overall health.

OMG talking about a stressful job, are you kidding I left macys after 22 years and I have been working in A hospital ER.. NON STOP since covid started I was there when the first of thousands of patients would pass through those doors.. there was no resting you brought your work home with you... Why do I stay, because I want to make a difference I have seen more than enough of souls lost...So maybe you should leave macys and find a job that you know that your presence would make a DIFFERENCE and you were appreciated.

How did you answer the question about well-being on the Pulse survey? If you are feeling stressed, be sure to note it on the next pulse survey and enter the reasons why in the comments section. The company keeps changing the questions to ensure that most people answer in the positive, don't buy into it and send a message about this like low pay and unrealistic work expectations.

Yeah..."big bucks" ...working at least 45-50 hours a week even this time of year because our store manager expects it, just enough time to swallow a lunch while reading emails. I have my area plus that of the manager laid off last summer.
Combinee all my hours together divided into my paycheck, I might make 13 an hour. No OT and everyone breathing down our necks.

@2ghm That's why you're paid the big bucks.

Salaried store exec....it’s physically taking a toll.
Ten hour days, no lunch. Doing the job that 4 people did a year ago. And they keep asking for more from us!! Not sure how much longer I can do it!

Check out some articles on "learned helplessness." You're experiencing a natural response to environmental things like, COVID, a bad economy, constant fear-mongering and a long winter. There are things you can do, once you understand it.

I have you all beat. I worked in Women shoes with thee laziest runner i ever met. most of the day i did his job as he screwed around on social media and did nothing until a manager came by.
my stock room was two levels in which i had to run up and down for 8-10 hrs. a day and only time my butt hit the seat was at lunch and i thought i would just pass out from stress and complete exhaustion. I complained to My " Manager " and she said she would get help.. it never came. the excuse was they needed more coverage in the store. I would come home and my feet look like it went into a cheese grater . my legs felt like they was set on fire. i couldn't eat cause i was so stressed out i felt like death walking... I would prey for a snow day or a day off to feel like i was human again. there needs to be a letter sent to HR about the amount of stress you go thru in one day... I have permanent damage to my body from working at Macys... the effects of long term stress on the brain has been well documented... I was laid off in June and i never felt better My advice... go and be that lazy runner , be half a– all day every day... your health isnt worth this dead end job

All you have to do is CARE LESS!! Trust me!! It works wonders on my mental health and stress levels. Slow down and enjoy the time with your friends at work because we are all on the same boat... a sinking Titanic!!

I feel the exact same way!!!! I spend my days off recovering from all the long hours and doing the job that was once done by 4 people. It takes a toll on the body!!! I keep thinking ok...I can get through the hard part but now there is no end in sight. No work life balance. Still trying to do my best. Still looking for better days to come. But...times are hard my friends.

Salaried Exec in store
Feel the exact same way. There is no life. With the store hours the way they are its a mid shift from hell everyday....and the pressure....and doing 3 salaried jobs at one time with multiple FOB responsibilities and being expected to know and give DM type presentations to regionals. ITS TO MUCH

You are NOT alone. I am experiencing the same thing and so are a majority of my colleagues. We are salaried executives. I’ve also heard a few of our Captains say the same.
