Layoff Tips and Tricks

LAYOFF Tips and Tricks

Folks, As we’ve just made it through yet another layoff, we likely have another one right around the corner, and it’s time to start prepping! While all of us (all 786 of us) probably don’t know what the future holds, we hope these “tips and tricks” help you manage your definite pending layoff that much easier.

Rule No 1: if you haven’t done so already, devoid your workspace of anything personal. This way your exit on the day of your layoff is a quick in and out. No thinking should I take this or that. Boom! You gone!

Rule 2: Immediately save any documents from your PC and take them home on a jump drive. No matter what they say, you’ll never have a chance to get those back!

Rule 3: take some longer lunches. Who cares, right?

Rule 4: those free sodas are free. Drink more of those bad boys.

Rule 5: come in late, leave early. Again, you’re about to get canned. Who cares.

Rule 6: Use your downtime to start prepping your personal sales pitch or honing in on your dream of starting a business.

Good luck, everyone!

Who would be that stupid to go back to SWN, with the burgeoning job market these days! That would be like going back to a 300 lb girlfriend eats Chester’s Fried Chicken for breakfast, lunch and dinner and that treats you like c-ap, just to say she’s with someone smarter than her! I’d rather jump off a bridge! No thanks.

Yes, there were laid-off people rehired after the January 2016 lay-off.

Does Southwestern rehire employees who were laid off before?

This does not affect me, but I was curious in general. We've lost some of our best employees in the past several layoffs rounds so I was wondering if they would be taken back if the opportunity presented itself? Even if the pay was lower?

This thread is a call to former employees who were laid off or quit cause they got tired of the insanity rampant since 2016. Those of us who remain, like me, aren’t sure what to expect post SWN. Tell us your stories. We know there are several thousand of you!

I have become highly expert at making PowerPoint presentations. I have successfully turned horrible news into favorable results with many years of PowerPoint training. I have presented to many levels of management, fooling the brightest with my color selections and use of various geographic shapes. If you need to spin your message, I am your guy. I have no other skills since it’s been drummed out of me by working for SWN in planning and advisory roles for many years.

This is an urgent message. We are offering a $250 reward seeking information leading to the apprehension of a mole inside of the SWN organization. Top secret information pertaining to layoffs and our building sale/eviction has been distributed outside of the circle of trust. Please, we are desperate to put and end to this in order to maintain the element of surprise as it comes to employment status around here. Sure hope the mole doesn’t leak the bonus/LTI info. Who am I kidding? There really isn’t any news to share there.. no bonuses.

If you quit you’d better make sure you have something lined up, the market is saturated with O&G people and you won’t be eligible for unemployment,,,you will get paid out for vacation but what good that will do you..??

If I quit - which I'm seriously thinking about right now considering the state Southwestern Energy is in at the moment with no improvements in sight - do I get paid for my unused vacation days?

As someone posted earlier, this all makes sense now and explains the 80:1...

“Transcript from last BOD meeting where executive bonuses were decided:

Way: “775,240 for me, 1 for you, 1 for you.... wait, none for you, 100 more for me, 1 for you.... you give me back the one I gave you, 300 more for me... “

Way: “I hereby approve these awards.”

This ends the transcript.....”
