Thread regarding Staples Inc. layoffs

Should I stay?

I was really scared when I heard the rumors that layoffs would follow very soon and I started looking for another job. Now I have the opportunity to move to another company for a job that is less paid and

I'm debating whether to leave or miss the opportunity there and wait a little longer and see how the situation develops. It scares me because it’s generally a lot harder to find a job when you don’t have any work, but still, those few more dollars that I have here for now mean a lot to me.

I loved my job at Staples. Then last June I was abruptly laid off; did not expect it. And what I really did not expect was how cold and impersonal my supervisor was when he told me...especially after 15 years of loyal service. Everyone is just a number at Staples. Sadly I learned that the hard way. If you have a better opportunity then go for it. I had a chance to do that during my career at Staples and decided to stay because I enjoyed my job...and the people I worked with. Hard decision to leave but better than getting laid off and being devastated....and knowing they really could care less what happens to you.

We’re trying to hire for a position in Framingham and can’t even find qualified individuals interested in working here. Now that’s Scary! HR just acts like everything is great! Even worse!

The writing is on the wall. staples does not value their employees. if the job that you were offered is enough money to consistently pay your bills and the company is more stable, I would strongly consider exiting before you are a part of the next layoff, which seems to be the trend around Staples.

LOL have you seen the amount of people Staples has laid off over the last 7 years? And you question whether to stay or not?

Please wait for Sandy to send another email to make sure your a racist cuz Sandy has grown up in the thick of it and needs to remind us of it every week. While driving in his 100k car in a gated white community and not giving two sh–s about anyone below his status regardless of race. Yes, please stay and keep the white dog t–d alive my friend. Please make sure you are socially aware though, with your pathetic salary. The people at the top of staples are so much socially aware than you it’s a joke and you will be more aware because of them if you stay

Always better to leave on your terms versus being forced, so I agree with the other posters. You know this already, but it is not just about pay - stability should be factored in to the mix when deciding.

I really enjoyed my time at Staples but the trends are clear. Take a short term dip for a long term gain.

Seems to me you have lost faith in the company. If that is the case, get out. I am sure Staples will figure out a way to manipulate your personal salary in 2021 to impact your take home pay. Private equity managed corporations do this best so go somewhere where your future potential is greater. So many are looking now because we have seen the trends here at Staples, it’s the six month shuffle. It’s a c-appy way to work and live.

If you think you are solid in your position, stay. But if you hate what you do and you are not your boss’ favorite regardless the good work you present, then leave. Why wait?
