Thread regarding Devon Energy Corp. layoffs

End of Layoffs for the foreseeable???

Do you think due to the recent re-org, future planning, current free cash flow, and even more recent spike in oil prices we can FINALLY take a breath and maybe have a good 3-5years of stability and not have even think about looking on a site like this for any clues into our job security?
I’ve been clinging onto the industry in the hope that the volatility subsides and can’t help but be encouraged lately that we all may feel the benefit of holding out and not seeking pastures new in recent years.

Here’s to that hope!!! Wish you all sun was and happiness int he years to come!!!!

T Boone Pickens once said "If you're not replacing your assets, you're liquidating". Take it for what it is.

You could get laid off tomorrow. You could get laid off walking your doggie. The next encounter with your employer, the next phone call, the next text, the next email, could be advising you that you are laid off.

This will always be the case for oil business workers, especially for ones at companies like Devon whose business models have not worked for a long time.

Investors focus heavily on G&A. Devon's G&A is quite robust. There will definitely be changes. The best way to reduce this expense is to have layoffs, it is sad but true. Every aspect of the company will be closely evaluated. Reductions may not occur in the immediate future but it will happen.

There will be at least one more round of layoffs. Take it to the bank and cash it.

With the vegetable currently in the WH, expect more outsourcing and offshoring of jobs. The cheapest of labor will be brought in wherever possible.

Harry Hong on to your a– because it’s never over in the oil patch. I’ve been working in it for 46 years and it’s been this way ever since T. Bone started his takeover strategy.
