Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

What should I do now? Any Ideas at All? Please Help

I dont know about anyone else, but for the Macy's where I currently work in, seasonal employees end their employment this March 12th. I am a seasonal employee. Even though I absolutly HATE the Macy's where I work, I need money, which is why I never quitted the job. This job, to me, was just quick and easy money. I dont want to lose my job. I tried re-applying online for a permanent position, but there's no Macy's open for employment near anywhere in my area. I just gotten my security guard liscence, but still.

What should I do now? Any ideas from anyone? Please help! I am completly lost with myself and dont know what else to do with my life anymore!

FYI y'all.. I'm xff+19Jl8NWX, the one whom everyone jumped on for being such a meanie.... Just so you know, about five curse and obscenity filled posts insulting Macy's employees (including the people in this thread that defended him lol) were deleted by mods, which exactly proved my point about why he shouldn't have a job there.

Talk to your MBA and let them know your interested in staying. There might be an open position that just isn't posted because the site is undergoing a big transformation at th moment. Even if that's not the case, if your Macy's is anything like mine, there will probably be a position opening up any day. Express your interest and that will increase your chances greatly of sticking around until you are able to find something you like better. Good luck to you.

I'm not showing kindness to someone who literally stated how much they hate the place. Maybe if they were someone even a little enthusiastic I would be nice but all this person is doing is bringing more negativity that their store doesn't need.

It is easier to find a job when you have a job. Customers can be a great resource when you make a connection with them. Its a known fact that the top selling colleagues have been recruited from Macy's to work for competitors by customers. Companies give referral bonuses to their employees and anyone could be recruiting in your store on your watch.

There are a some heartless people on this site...please try to lift your fellow humans up. Not everyone was given the same opportunities .....Please show some humanity.Ttreat others the way you want to be treated. Just because someone is seasonal doesn't mean they are any less human than anyone else. Help others in life ...I hope all the best for this person if I could I would hire them. They are trying. My god people have some compassion. Let's face it ringing up people all day long isn't the greatest job...but some people can't handle all the stress and pressures of a more technical job . We can all get along...

You've been there since 2018, but you're seasonal. Lol k. I've been there for ten years and I can tell you, no one wants some little twit 20 year old who can barely remember to charge their phone, let alone perform a job well.

If you haven't been offered continued employment by now, you will off-roll. It's been delayed until March 20 but still, this means they have no interest or felt as if you didn't have interest. This wasn't something you applied for, it was just a discussion with your manager or the MBA about opportunities after the season was over. There's nothing to apply to on macysjibs because of the changeover to a new system that's still ongoing. Sorry.

I’m sorry. But we’ve all been here with seasonal positions. You lose your job and need to search for another one!

Biden is extending unemployment benefits. You can start there. Look inside the mall or other retail positions around or whatever else you can do. Amazon and many warehouses are hiring!!

During the season, did you ever express enthusiasm and interest in staying on in a permanent position?

No, of course you didn't.

How do I know that? Let me quote you: "Even though I absolutly HATE the Macy's where I work, I need money, which is why I never quitted the job. This job, to me, was just quick and easy money."

Maybe you should look elsewhere. Stop being too lazy to look for a new job. You knew you were being off-rolled as a seasonal employee so stop acting surprised about losing the job. That's sort of assumed when you are hired for temporary work. I know I'm coming off rude and that's on purpose, because you didn't work there long enough to be this bitter AND get upset you're being termed (which again is built into the job). We don't need people with your attitude. I'm sure your store has enough problems without a seasonal employee who has no right to complain adding to it. Make a major attitude adjustment but preferably give up and go somewhere else.

Not to mention, your flip, sarcastic comment at the end about not knowing what to do with your life garners you no sympathy. Again, you haven't been there long enough to have this nasty attitude. You're an insult to the people who've worked there for years and really are stuck. I hope to God they tell you to leave and never come back.

Talk to your manager. There may be something available that just hasn’t been posted yet. Good luck!
