I was determined to wait it out at Sears. For the past couple of years I kept thinking the end is right around the corner and it’s only a matter of months if not weeks before the whole thing is done. And yet here I am, still gainfully employed, still waiting for that day to come. So I think that I am finally done waiting. I was hoping to leave with a severance, but considering it’s no longer a guarantee I have no reason to wait it out any longer. I was convinced I’d last until the end of Sears, but to my shock what’s left of the company managed to outlast me.

you can get a year of unemployment due to covid with a 300 per week booster thru Sept 5. If you wanted this long maybe waitt it our. Employment will be better in 6 months! good luck.
They offered me another job at higher level during the furlough but I declined it. I knew that there is no future there. The offered job will not pay anything better than I can earn elsewhere. I accepted the severance pay and moved on. If you were not well compensated to be there then it is better just to leave.
OP here. Yes I will tell you where I work because I am done with this place, so I don’t care anymore. Sears store #1139, Tukwila, WA
I thought the end was near 8 years ago so I left.....landed a job paying $30k more a year doing the same thing. Over the past 8 years I’ve had steady pay increases, bonuses and opportunity to broaden my skill set and advance. Why would anyone stay in a job with no future, no raises, no bonus Just for a really bad severance package? The longer you stayed the more earning potential and opportunities you’ve missed out on.
Won’t it be a trip if Sears goes belly up a month or two after this guy quits? LOL
Where do you work, if you can say?
