Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Bare minimum…I’m ok with it.

I hear many of my coworkers talking about doing the bare minimum. I can understand their reasoning behind it. Optum hasn’t exactly placed value on their employees for years and with the issues currently at play who would want to give it their all and then some? I’ve finally reached that point and while it goes against my upbringing I’m actually okay with it. I’m hoping to find something else eventually because at the rate thing are going I’ll end up resenting the company - and that’s something I don’t want to happen.

Not anti anything. Simply, pro reality.

There's a certain peace about being grounded in reality and not listening and bowing to company propaganda. By staying there teammates are tacitly agreeing to the terms and conditions of that employment. Teammates want what they are offering and eagerly and willingly submit. That's well intentional. No one is being forced to do anything. Most want what is being offered.

That's why we're getting laid off because of capitalism. Let folks say the truth. We work 60 hrs a week and no pay. The boss says we have to. We ARE corporate slaves.

You’re choosing to troll a support/information board with your constant barrage of corporate slavery and other anti-capitalism rants, how low can you get?

Repeat: Your lack of empathy is appalling.

Then they're being forced to work, and bc they're not getting paid, they're corporate slaves.

Repeat: Anyone who works 40hours+ without extra pay is an imbecile.

Hmmmm you clearly don’t work in a department that mandates its salaried employees to work long hours and weekends to meet customer demands. People are just trying to keep their jobs during a pandemic, calling them imbeciles demonstrates a serious lack of empathy.

So the trick is you can do this so long as you have a boss that is super busy and does not have time to deal with you. There is however a percentage of employees that work long hours and weekends and cannot get out of that situation. Then there are others that clock out at 5pm each day.

Work your 40 and look for something better perhaps a small private company with potential growth.

It is Optum not Sales force. Work hard at a company that appreciates you.

And try to look busy. Send out emails at 10pm right before you go to bed. log in. send. log out.

Reviews were pretty demoralizing this year, Optum overworked many people last year and then didn’t reward them. There’s no point in working 50+ hour weeks if you won’t be rewarded for it. Do the best you can in your 40 hours and then enjoy your life outside of work if you can.
