Thread regarding Shell Oil layoffs

No way to rebuild things?

The place feels dead. Expat managers only worry about their next job, everything else be damned. Any technical succession planning is not even on the radar.
I cannot see that there is a way to rebuild things. You would have to purge 80% of the current leadership, which is impossible. The ship must sink, and will sink!

I totally agree, @9vcn+19xsyey6. All the ways that come to me are not realistic. So, unfortunately, I don’t think there is room for some optimism.

I don't think the problem is limited to just expat managers. It's always felt like the bulk of management has only been interested in networking amongst themselves for the next role. Rarely are they focused on developing the capability of the group as a whole. If management cared about their groups, they'd spend more time understanding the roles of their employees, developing the skills of their people, and building effective transition documents.
