More downsizing than announced?

It would not surprise me at all that apart from the announcement of 200 stores closing from last year, there is even more downsizing. Only bigger stores will survive and that’s it. Someone mentioned it in one of the posts below and I share their opinion. Once disaster sets in, it’s a downward spiral. Sad...

They've closed plenty of big stores.

Eventually, it will happen as long as the company does not want to renew their leases, pay their bill's or the venders. Getting in inferior merchandise, losing full timers and not training the part timers properly.

Size has nothing to do with it. What they care about is how profitable you are. Business 101

It won’t be the size of the store, but the profit it generates. Stores with lower operating costs that still turn a profit will outlast busier stores that may have higher operating costs and contribute less profit to the company.

Disagree with this. I. Believe that want smaller stores with less square footage.

We’re a SMALL store...yet we do more volume than some of the largest stores in NE. So while I agree that more bigger stores will survive it all depends on location, store volume...all that good stuff. They have closed large stores because they don’t do the business! We’ll see.

Yeah I think the end destination for this company is for the bigger stores to survive, just the nature of how everything is now. It will take a but of time until all that happens though so this 200 closing stores number will be the barometer for a while. As I doubt they’d want to scare investors away right now.
