I was happy that this company gave me the opportunity because I had almost no previous experience. I was happy because I thought there were a lot of great experts working here from whom I would have a lot to learn. However, I feel like I am not progressing at all because since the beginning I am surrounded by people who are very reluctant to share their knowledge. It’s as if they think I will “steal” their job if they teach me something.

Training and sharing of knowledge? Lol!
Teach yourself, I had to, most the knowledge that you rarely do receive is decades behind in terms of logic because 'thats the way it's always been done'......
If you dont know maybe you should go find a job you do know ! No room for passwngers here
Oh some believed they new everything
No one knows everything, even the most experienced still ask questions. But JF would never accept he was wrong even when he was proved wrong, never him either the machine was wrong or back to back did it. Never have I seen anyone be so ignorant to admitting they were incorrect
Dril quip machine shop forgot that each and everyone of them asked stupid questions at some point and that they were all trainees at one point . I witnessed some people being mocked for asking questions by the people who should have been helping . It’s all about who gets paid what . Some guys were terrified to help in case it put jobs over estimate .
Depends on what the ask is and how often. If the question is very basic, people will not want to answer because they are afraid it will be followed with more and more basic questions. Also, if you ask the same question over and over, they will probably pretend to now know. Or else people are just too busy to answer. Also, if you ask 'rudely' and demanding an answer, they may ignore you altogether.
I had to train someone on a very basic job and it took her a month and a half to grasp. I was ready to tear my hair out but I did it because the person was a single mom and I really wanted her to be successful at it. It normally should take only a week or so.
If you find it hard to get a response, be super nice and take really good notes. Then find a way to reciprocate.
Because dq staffs have no knowledge. Only boot lickers
