Thread regarding Canon Inc. layoffs

Cheapskate Canon

For those who survived the layoffs and took on additional assignments and hours worked over the last year, we are confirmed as the s—ers. Get ready for a super weak merit increase.

Canon keeps on asking for more from its hard working employees but doesn’t take care of us for the extra. I’m out.

Folks were bold enough to add more work to my kras this year after rewarding peanuts for extra work over the last few years.

One way street.

Anyone else?

First paycheck should have been just for part of April, when the subpar costs of living increases “rewarded”.

$250K = estimate how much more profit Canon hasn’t realized additionally so far, by my working less. I’ve been actively avoiding the more complicated areas and slacking hard.

Was being cheap on raises on your hard working employees after 2 years worth it, Canon? Can’t wait to leave.

My increase after tax, benefits, 401k was less than $5 a paycheck.

The amounts are being fine tuned. Should find out by April but it’s peanuts.

2, 3%, whatever it ends up being after no increase last year and taking on extra responsibilities this year is weak. Value will be far less than the 20% reduction in hours worked I’ll be applying from here. At least until I find a more appreciative company to work for. Clock in on time, clock out on time. You get what you pay for Canon, and I’m taking 10 hours of my week back, cheapskates.

Canon will provide ethical cookies as your bonus. Most of them will be gobbled up by the parent company
lawyers and departed Executives & Directors who took there goodies as COVID struck. Ethics can not be bought! More keyoshi BULL.

Can’t say I’m surprised. Many people in my group are doing the work of several people. Management continues to push major projects and initiatives with no resources or budget. The lack of any merit increase last year would have been a little more tolerable had they not annihilated our teams with massive layoffs. More than half of my team are already looking at other options and speaking about it openly. As Covid releases its grip and the economy bounces back more and more options will be available. Many divisions are exceeding budget by such a high percentage this year you’d think that it makes sense to keep the “A Team” happy, but apparently not. Cost cutting and more cost cutting, do more with less, welcome to the new Canon strong - see how bad you can beat people up before they bail.

Have they mentioned raises or merit increases? In my NJ branch we haven’t even done a year end review or any discussion of raises.
