Thread regarding GE Aviation layoffs

Stop lying to yourselves

There are people on here bragging on how they are doing better and have moved on...This board is looked at and cared about mostly by folks who have gotten laid off or who are concerned about getting laid off. The folks who claimed that they are doing better and talking on this board are NOTHING BUT LIARS!!!! If you reply that means you are still looking at this board and waiting to be called back just like the most of us....Thanks for trying though!

I worked at GE Oil and Gas and the rest of GE can say how we were bone heads, but the aviation side hired the one manager that blue up water, yes water, to work as a chemist on the aviation fuel technology team. GE is a great place to work, but the company has fallen into the trap of retaining employees based on supervisors feelings rather than on outcomes. Aviation hired an oil and gas employee that was a huge liability to safety, assets, profits, and customers. But he made sure he was nearest the people that executed no particularly being for or against, but being noticed politically.

I wish I was back at GE, there was a lot of technology at my fingertips!

You don’t have to work at GE Aviation to know it’s a sh–hole dumpster. Friends and family members talk! If I were you I’d leave GE HR and find a place that doesn’t give you the task of trolling message boards! Good luck!

You nailed it. These jobs are disappearing at a blinding pace, after 7 years of persistent stalking and applying to every position I could do I was fortunate enough to finally get the call at evendale, One of the best days of my life. Im glad I didn't allow myself to become too comfortable and remained humble practically on a daily basis because it only lasted 6 months. Now here we are pointlessly searching for a comparible job but knowing it's highly likely you're going to have to go back to the miserable job and life you had while pursuing GE, Kellogg, etc. and that sh–s pretty deflating, then you do something you told yourself not to do again and that's coming to this site. Now the question is if buckshot is better than slug at a point-blank range

Whoa there nostradumbass. Mighty arrogant of you to claim to know everyone on the internet’s situation and motives. I don’t and have never worked for GE Aviation but did work at another dumpster fire that was both a customer and a vendor. I got fed up and walked out of that on my own POed that I didn’t get laid off because I wanted the severance. I spent more than 25% of my life there so forgive me for checking in on the industry and prior business relationships while offering positive news and views about the industry as it exists outside your cubicle. Been watching these boards for several years and it’s pretty obvious that the BS posts come from HR departments.

Either he or she is wrong here or they are correct and the responses show it. Psychology 101

What an asinine post by the OP. They are liars just because you don't agree with them or know their situation now? Complete foolishness, if you don't work in HR you should interview for a spot, you'd fit right in. Gimmie a break. lmao

I think many who have been laid off and have done well are here to encourage others there is life after GE and at times you can’t see the forest through the trees.

It’s important to realize things happen for a reason and to focus on the positives that lay ahead.

Yes i believe many that post on this site are lying for some reason. I do however believe many go on to have better jobs but just don't think they come back to this site to post. When people get cut some put in a good effort taking advantage training and other benefits. Many just collect stimulus and unemployment and do nothing to help their situation. I know you probably don't care for advice on a site like this but i have been laid off couple times in my career and always ended up in a better situation. I took advantage training/learning opportunities and worked hard to find a good job. There are good jobs out there just realize you have to work hard for a better one.Good luck

Never heard of salaried band being called back after a permanent position elimination.

Nice logic, wrong conclusion.
