Middle east used to be successful region but seems set to fail also. Contracts awarded to competitors in Qatar and KSA. No sign of new work. Struggle and slowdown on current projects.
Management are disconnected and don't know region, clients or offshore business - a reverse CB&I takeover...

They actually have competition, every time they are forced to be competitive they loose.
Unfortunately that is what happens when you ignore local customs and appoint your Scottish buddies or cheaper labor from the 3rd world to manage an American icon in the region.
Old McD made tons of money in the region. That is when McD name meant financial stability, technical excellence and American influence. When a non-American guy shows up, all three are erased.
These guys (since 2013) are too arrogant for their own good to learn from the past. But as long as they are filling their own pockets with bonuses, the party will go on.
