Canada and Retail are separate businesses - and for those associates that work in them, they matter.

US Retail will likely end up in a deal with OD as a stand-alone retail business of stores from both sides. It will allow a lot of rationalization, and will pass FTC.

Canada will takeover SBA in Canada and then generate savings in the transition. It’s started already.

Who cares about Canada or retail. Those two pieces of the business are a small portion and aren’t growing

Canada IPO will likely be delayed to next year and then SP will be out of the picture. Hooray!

CTC might buy Staples Canada as it gets them into the tech space, there is FS economies and there is a real estate consolidation play there too. And they would get a cheap deal based on the profitability.

Sycamore is dealing with Belk first. They will turn their sights towards this sinking sh– and start leaning things out even more. God I can’t wait for the end of private equity

While I don’t doubt there will indeed be layoffs, I consider this post to just be a mean post to make people nervous. I absolutely have a list of people I can’t wait to be kicked to the curb and be told they have no health insurance after three days of being laid off, this just sounds like a cruel statement with nothing to back their announcement ☹️
