Was anybody who was laid off offered to transition to an online shopping-related job? If that's the main reason for the layoffs, as the leadership keeps saying, why weren't the jobs that were created in the new sector offered to people before they were unceremoniously kicked to the curb?

in my store everyone who was working from home as call people got let go. 90% of calls are now routed to call centers not owned by Best Buy.
I was laid off, no offer of other employment, over 5+ years with them. Definitely feel kicked to the curb. Oh well, off to better things.
One of my relatives was but he wants to leave the company as a whole.
