Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

Feeling of stagnation

Teradata is my first work experience and I have been working here for a little over six years. Now I realized I had lingered around here for too long because I'm starting to feel stagnant. Maybe I should have changed jobs after two or three years. I wonder how long you think it is desirable for a young person's career to stay here before going to another company?

As a former employee, I wished I'd left around the 5-6th year. Base your leaving on your level of knowledge - if you feel you've learned just enough to shine at another company, then get your resume updated and out there! Don't get too comfortable or you'll find yourself under paid and possibly unemployed.

I felt the same. But after leaving TD to explore other opportunities I eventually came back to TD and am loving it. A lot less stress, more money than elsewhere. It was a great career move and I just wished I had of stayed. Remember the grass aint always greener.

Depends on the company. Teradata is weak on new product innovation, so not too long
