How are employees with more than 25 years with the company getting laid off while people with less than 10 are not? The retention ratings were supposed to guarantee a higher retention rating based on years of service with the company. They were supposed to be able to bump someone with less years of service with the company. What games is the company playing with the retention ratings? Isn’t the company positioning itself for another age discrimination lawsuit? Maybe this time the judge won’t throw it out it’s so overt.

Boeing offers severance of 1 week per year of service up to a maximum of 26 weeks. For an employee with 26+ years of experience, the VLO is somewhat attractive. But if you only have 10 years of service, 10 weeks severance is not very attractive. This is how they get the long-tenured employees to leave. I left in 2019 with 30 years of service. I would have left anyway in the next couple of years...might as well take an extra 6 months of pay with me when I go.
They only keep the people with no skills so Boeing can keep making airplanes fall out of the sky
Not true I’ve been with company 3 1/2 years still getting laid off. Last day March 26
They’re not keeping the best employee at position. That is the point. They’re keeping the lowest paid employee at each position. That’s why they keep a level 1 and layoff level 4 engineers.
Unless you’re a lead engineer were being counters don’t think they can be replace you with a level one you’re likely going to get laid off
Companies should keep the best employees at each position. If you don’t meet that requirement don’t be p-ss-d at the company. Should have done your job better. Stop complaining about age discrimination, you had 25+ years to excel. Everyone should be prepared for layoffs at all times in this industry. If you have been in aviation for more than a year you would know this!
Boeing is circling the drain anyway, leave it to the low iq lizard brains attached to a comatose brain stem. Boeing gets what they pay for
Where is the moderator when you need them? Clean this up.
This thread illustrates perfectly why older workers no longer want to train or a mentor younger employees.
One day you’ll be an employee if you’re lucky with 25+ years experience which most of them are not even 50 and I’ll see how you like a layoff notice
Stop posting 777 emergency landings! Everyone knows planes make emergency landings every day! Airbus also! It just doesn’t make the news because nobody cares about Airbus! So back to China with ya! Get your aircraft certified lol.

Rules don’t apply at Boeing, they own the unions so they do whatever they want. Employees with way less seniority are usually cheaper, who cares about skills.
