Years ago at a Town Hall a young Editorial SJW asked a question about "Gender/Income Inequality" and "CEO pay". MH calmly listened and then suggested that Cengage was not going to pay more, as were a mission based company intent on saving students money.
I didn't know the young SJW but remember hearing she was let go shortly after. It was quite a spectacle and a lot of people were talking about it for a long time.

I remember a young rep asked a question at Pearson meeting about affordability of course materials years ago and she was shunned and people couldn’t believe she asked the question. We were all about the value of the $200 package at the time. Publishers raised prices twice a year for years until the prices were ridiculous and Amazon stepped into the market. Now it’s all about affordability and equity. Really???

I worked in Farmington Hills and the personal behavior of some of the executives was appalling. And I'm not talking about 20 years ago....this was fairly recent. Some of them made Harvey Weinstein look like an amateur.

Its the same thing we see now with wall st. Wall Street typically skews democrat, (because they want their government handouts and bailouts,) but similar to MH and KC screws the little person over time and time again. Which is why what is going on with Game Stop is so enjoyable to watch.
So yes. The progressive nonsense is all just window dressing. Always has been.
Cengage is extremely progressive in its culture and views on everything except wages. Bring up the facts that our salaries are bottom of the barrel, merit increases don't cover inflation and we don't see any profit sharing and the execs go from Bernie Sanders to Gordon Gekko in a heartbeat. They give the talk about needing to "contain costs so we can regain the confidence of our investors and return our company to growth." Yet they conveniently ignore that our vulture owners (they're not investors - investing means actually putting capital into a company) raided our balance sheet and stuffed their pockets with cash that was paid for by piling more debt on the company. Michael, KC and the rest of the vultures don't care about the company, the student, education and they sure as h-ll don't care about you making a living wage or supporting yourself or a family. Their progressive talk only applies when its suits them and their bottom line.
I do recall an inquisitive young woman at another meeting question MH about the archaic and antiquated nature of platforms such as MindTap. She mysteriously disappeared shortly thereafter.
