I know a few people who think they're safe from layoffs primarily due to their years with the company. I guess they learned nothing from previous layoffs when it was obvious that the main goal was to get rid of as many people with higher pay (which equals those who've been here the longest) as possible.
I hope everybody realizes there is no such thing as safe here anymore. Do your work but be prepared in case your name is on the next list, since it's most likely only a matter of time before it is.
