Thread regarding Whiting Petroleum Corp. layoffs

Boy isn’t that the truth and what a joyful one it is. You never know until you move on , you, they make you think you have the greatest job ever and you believe it obviously. But all those sugar coated tales and great benefits don’t necessarily make a happy life. When you discover the appreciation from another company it makes up for quite a bit. Smiling when you go to and leave your job says something in itself.

Hmm sounds like moral has gone to sh– around there. How long can you keep it a float when no one cares and reads into what is happening. Everyone knows it’s just a matter of time. You just sit and wait when you’re phone rings, to see well is this the call. Wait for that meeting we are sold you need to re apply or we don’t need you. And no severance packages will be issued. What’s left of the luxury benefits aren’t worth the disappointment inside your self worth. Pride is more important than that any day of the week.

I was in the last layoff, too. This is my third crash, but somehow I survived the others. Based on what I was making when I left, I have a pretty good idea of what the middle managers are pulling. I heard they made salary cuts, but they were pretty small. More than 20 directors in a company that size all probably making $500k.... no wonder they can't get their p–p in a group. RIF's in a downturn are part of the game, but being management heavy in a downturn is simply not very smart and not what I've seen in the last two crashes. I hired on with a company that is set up to last and they actually practice their 'core values'. I'm not making what I was making at Whiting, but the people that are left will soon face the same reality. It's not so bad assuming you have skills. Unfortunately, a lot of those that were left are only there because they are part of the Chip and Shane cult which is just the leftovers from Holly's culture. It's a weird place. I don't miss it.

As someone who was in the last RIF, I can attest to this. There is life after Whiting and life is good. The high pay isn't worth losing your soul. I find it humorous that they came up with the BS "whiting values" c-ap. We even had plaques given to us (they make great targets, by the way.). I bet they spent a few hundred on each of those things and every employee got one. "Highest Integrity" was the first one. Show me one person at the top who has shown true integrity. It's nothing more than a good ol' boys club. They've all profited by screwing over the shareholders. Perfect example of value destruction. It's absolutely amazing what you can get away with. No ethics. Zero integrity. It's all lip service. Leaving was a blessing in disguise.
