For hourly employees, that would constitute the grounds for a lawsuit. Many cases have been won against their employers for such things.
Are we surprised? The technology is trash. When associates have to start logging in 35-45 minutes prior to their shifts just to clock in on time because the systems are so slow it’s no wonder clients are leaving. That snail pace is seen throughout the day in every single product. Name one outlier.
